How the clinic works

Each session is high-impact and affordable because we strip away the post-session admin and focus entirely on you.

01 — Before your session

The clinical head-start

Once you book, I send you a health and lifestyle questionnaire. Your medical history and current diet come to me in advance so I can use every minute of your session productively.

02 — The InBody scan (15 seconds)

The metabolic picture

You stand on the InBody 270 barefoot and hold two handles for 15 seconds. It measures visceral fat level, skeletal muscle mass, body fat percentage, and metabolic rate — the data behind how you feel, made visible.

03 — The consultation (45 mins)

Joining the dots

I work through your scan results and clinical history together, connecting your metabolic picture to your symptoms. You can ask anything: supplements, specific concerns, how to fuel a demanding life. We build your plan together.

04 — What you leave with

Your personalised metabolic plan

You leave The Garden Room with a personalised metabolic action plan covering the specific nutrition, movement, and lifestyle changes most likely to shift your picture.

Included with every appointment

See exactly what you get: your body composition report

Each scan maps your muscle, visceral fat and metabolic engine score, visit by visit. The numbers power the advice: Dr Rebecca Hiscutt PhD reads them alongside your history and symptoms, so your plan is personalised to you.

How do I book an appointment in Clevedon?

All bookings are online only. Use the booking button on this page to choose a date and time. After booking you will receive a health questionnaire to complete before your appointment so Dr Hiscutt PhD can prepare.

What does the InBody scan involve?

The InBody 270 is a medical-grade body composition scanner. You stand on the device and hold two handles for approximately 15 seconds. It uses bioelectrical impedance to measure visceral fat level, skeletal muscle mass, body fat percentage, and estimated metabolic rate. No preparation is required. You receive a full results sheet and a guide to help you understand what the numbers mean.

Home body composition scales give you a single number. The InBody 270 measures arms, legs, and trunk separately, using multiple electrical frequencies simultaneously. That level of specificity is why the device is used in clinical and research settings rather than sold as a consumer product. Read more about what the scan measures and why it matters.

What conditions and symptoms will the Clevedon clinic cover?

Perimenopause and menopause symptoms, fatigue and energy crashes, brain fog, migraines and recurrent headaches, joint pain and muscle aches, metabolic markers (blood pressure, blood glucose, pre-diabetes, weight changes around the middle), and gut symptoms including bloating and IBS. Dr Hiscutt PhD takes a root-cause approach, looking at the metabolic drivers behind symptoms rather than treating them in isolation.

Do you see men, or treat the male menopause?

Yes. The same root-cause, metabolic approach works for men in midlife. Low energy, weight around the middle, broken sleep and low drive are often metabolic rather than a sudden drop in testosterone, and that means they respond to the same work. Read about men’s metabolic health and the male menopause.

What do visceral fat, muscle mass and metabolic rate actually mean?

Visceral fat is the fat around your abdominal organs, scored 1 to 20. It’s the fraction most linked to insulin resistance and long-term health risk, and it tends to respond fastest to dietary change, often the first visible win. Skeletal muscle mass is your body’s most metabolically active tissue: it drives how many calories you burn at rest, and it naturally declines through the menopause transition as oestrogen falls, unless you actively work to protect it. Estimated metabolic rate tracks muscle closely, so a falling rate alongside a stable weight often points to muscle change rather than anything you’re doing wrong. Together, these numbers explain what the scales alone can’t: two people at the same weight can have very different compositions, and very different levels of metabolic risk.

Can I pay for the 12-week programme in instalments?

Yes. Your Menopause Code, the 12-week programme, can be paid in full at the £495 founding rate, or split into two instalments of £247.50 each, arranged for you at booking.

How soon will I see results?

Many people notice initial changes, such as steadier energy or better sleep, within the first couple of weeks, particularly once blood sugar patterns start to stabilise. Changes in InBody metrics such as visceral fat usually take longer to show and are easiest to track across a few appointments. Results vary by individual, and Dr Hiscutt PhD will talk through a realistic timeline for your specific goals at your first appointment.

Will I see the same practitioner every time?

Yes. Every Root Cause Clinic appointment, in person or virtual, is with Dr Rebecca Hiscutt PhD, RD directly. There is no handover between different clinicians, so each appointment builds on what she already knows about your history and your plan.
